The COVID-19 pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus has caused tens of thousands of deaths worldwide. This fact has caused the collapse of different health systems. The authorities declared a health emergency in Peru, and the con- finement was determined in March 2020. This article describes the experience in the first 60 days of the health emergency in the Nephrology Department of the Ed- gardo Rebagliati Martins Hospital, EsSALUD, in Lima-Peru. The outpatient consul- tation and procedures were initially suspended; the care was conducted through immediate care consultation and telemedicine. The number of medical cares was reduced, the care of the hemodialysis service was maintained, and no catheter placement for peritoneal dialysis or kidney transplants was performed. The team of nephrologists contributed to the front-line care in the COVID-19 areas, and me- dical education began in the form of virtual education.
